The Clarence Mustangs Pee Wee Minor Hockey team recently won their first tournament at the Amherst Pee Wee Minor Invitational. The Mustangs started out by losing a close 2-1 game against Amherst. Josh Pajek had the only goal for the team with an assist by Erich Thur. The Mustangs controlled their second game by beating the Bisons 3-1. Jake Pavicich netted the first goal which was unassisted. Josh Pajek scored the second goal with an assist by Thur. Nick Amodio scored the Mustangs third goal with assists from Michael Dec and Griffen LoVullo. The Mustangs next defeated Cheektowaga 4-3. Griffen LoVullo started the scoring with an unassisted goal. Michael Dec next scored from the point with assists from Amodio and Pavicich. The Mustang's third goal came from Zach Bolotsky’s unassisted goal. Josh Pajek netted the game winning goal with assists from Spencer Dimitroff and Jordan Brown. An exciting championship game paired the Mustangs and the Bisons. The Mustangs prevailed with a 3-2 overtime win. JT Buchbinder scored the first goal assisted by Sam Kinerk and Dec. Pajek and Bolotsky assisted Thur in the Mustang's second goal. The overtime game winning goal came from Thur with 14 seconds left on the clock. Goalie, Alex Camarre, played an extremely strong game for the Mustangs in net.
The Clarence Mustangs Squirt Major team won the Webster Cyclone Challenge Tournament that was held September 16th- 18th. The Mustangs went undefeated in tournament play (5-0). The Mustang's first game was against the Buffalo Stars. Clarence prevailed with a 4-1 score. Maxx Kempton started the Mustang scoring in the first period with an assist from Josh Fitzpatrick. Colin Schupbach then added the next goal with an unassisted break away goal. Defenseman, Sam Saccone, scored from the point, unassisted, in the 2nd period and Brady Carlson netted the final Mustang goal in the third period with an assist from Niko Pavicich. Clarence's second game was versus the Scranton, PA Jr. Knights. Another dominating win for the Mustangs with a 7-1 victory. Pavicich started the scoring with an assist from Carlson. Defenseman, Sammy Zyla, skated the puck coast to coast to score the Mustang's second goal. Sam Conroy assisted Pavicich's second goal of the game in period 2. Chris Cacciatore put one past Scranton's goalie with help from Eddie Militello. Fitzpatrick scored the 5th goal, unassisted, and Pavicich racked up his 3rd and 4th goals in the 3rd period with help from Carlson. The Mustang's next game was vs. the Rochester Americans & Clarence tallied a 6-1 win against them. Fitzpatrick scored 4 goals vs. the Americans with assists from Schupbach and Dylan Angelo. Pavicich and Zyla added to the Mustang scoring with assists from Carlson and Schupbach. Game #4 was the Rochester Grizzlies vs. the Mustangs. Another strong showing by the team helped the Mustangs win with a score of 7-1. Carlson started the scoring in period #1 with an assist from Conroy & Saccone. Cacciatore scored two goals in the 2nd period along with Schupbach (1) and Saccone (1). Pavicich and Conroy each scored in the third and assisted each other's goals. The championship game matched the Rochester Grizzlies and Clarence once again. A dominating 5-0 win brought the hardware home to Clarence for their first championship of the year. Zyla & Angelo assisted Fitzpatrick's 1st goal. Cacciatore scored next with Schupbach scoring soon after. Fitzpatrick and Pavicich added goals #4 & #5 in the 3rd. Goalie, Luke Pavicich, recorded the shutout and only allowed 5 goals throughout entire tournament. Defensemen, Lucas McDowell & Ryan Serpe played strong defense throughout tournament play.
